Job Description:Distribution Electrician SupervisorPurpose:Under general direction, supervises and coordinates the daily activities of electricians involved in construction, repair, installation, maintenance, or removal of electric utility systems and equipment.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Assigns, organizes, and monitors task completion for work group.
- Interprets, explains and enforces City policies, procedures, building codes, specifications and ordinances.
- Communicates with schedulers regarding work orders.
- Monitors safety issues for work group.
- Operates line work tools and equipment.
- Performs repair, installation, maintenance or removal of electric utility facilities and equipment as required.
- Performs emergency electric system restoration as necessary.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:- Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of Transmission and Distribution design and construction standards.
- Knowledge of applicable Austin Energy and OSHA safety regulations.
- Knowledge of local environmental requirements for construction and maintenance activities.

Minimum Qualifications:- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus six (6) years of relevant work experience, two (2) years of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Licenses and Certifications Required:- Valid Texas Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or ability to acquire license and/or endorsements within 120 days of employment.
- Ability to produce and maintain an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in electric utility network construction and maintenance.
- Experience in the planning, coordination and scheduling of network construction and maintenance projects.
- Lead experience providing guidance and training to employees under their direction.
- Experience tracking multiple projects, resources, material and inventory associated with network projects.
- Experience interacting with and providing detailed information to internal and external customers.
- Experience with MAXIMO purchase requisitions, work order creation, asset inventories or similar system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Experience working in safety management with human resource systems such as Cority and Workday.
- Experience installing network protectors.
- Experience with electric utility medium voltage safety protocols.
- Experience responding to emergency restoration efforts.

Commercial Driver's License:This position requires a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver License or the ability to acquire one within 90 days of employment. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s
Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
Job offer may be contingent on passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test and thereafter, comply with Department of Transportation, Federal Regulations and the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing rules as outlined by the City of Austin Drug and Alcohol Policy for Drivers of Commercial Motor Vehicles.
