Job Overview
Under general supervision, the Payroll Technician II independently performs activities related to the processing of the full range of payroll and personnel transactions for all categories of California State University (CSU) employees. Interpret and properly apply rules and regulations, existing CSU polices and guidelines, state and federal laws, education codes and collective bargaining agreements. Independently prepares and processes a full range of payroll transactions including those for students, staff and faculty and all types of additional pay including overtime, shift differential, bonuses, stipends, and disability. Engages in independent troubleshooting, research and reconciliation of transactions and errors, trace and correct discrepancies ensuring all information is accurate and correct. Enters, updates and maintains employee leave records. Provides relevant payroll and attendance information and works closely with departments resolving payroll and attendance reporting issues. Provides immediate, accurate and detailed information on any aspect of an employee’s payroll record as requested.

Payroll Technician II
This is a full-time, temporary, non-exempt position ending on or before June 30, 2026. Reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations. The university reserves the right to terminate this appointment earlier than the scheduled expiration date.

Pay, Benefits, and Work Schedule
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,864 - $4,900 per month
CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,864 - $6,620 per month
Salary is commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected.
This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year; 14 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
