Examples of Duties- Performs cross-functionally to integrate highly complex information systems and business process changes in support of strategic business needs
- Plans, conducts, and leads major systems projects; reviews and evaluates results
- Performs requirements gathering, systems analysis and design, and feasibility studies, and prepares project proposals for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of an information system specific to assigned departments
- Compiles complex and comprehensive reports and correspondence
- Provides guidance to departmental staff on information system projects and programs
- Provides direction to consultants regarding systems needs and acceptability of alternatives
- Evaluates systems to ensure that requirements are properly satisfied
- Verifies vendor compliance with contract and work plan
- Writes business and reporting requirements, and uses case diagrams and functional requirements for new applications or modifications to existing applications
- Consults with business and technical subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure that customer requirements are translated to information system specifications
- Monitors system performance and troubleshoots, analyzes, and resolves system problems; responds to systems emergencies
- Facilitates systems training and creates technical documentation
- Develops analytical models to extract and analyze data from various Metro systems to provide management with decision-making tools
- Participates in department's information security, disaster recovery, and safety programs
- Participates in evaluation and awards of contracts to information systems vendors
- Oversees, trains, and motivates assigned staff

Minimum QualificationsA combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:
Education- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience- Five years of relevant experience performing business and systems analysis, planning and implementation of information systems, and analytical reports; some positions in this class may require specialized experience in area of assignment
Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements- A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions

- Experience supporting the HASTUS Scheduling System as a programmer.
- Experience applying knowledge of bus and rail operations, including schedule rebaselining (shake-ups)."
