    The Position

    Laboratory Technicians perform standardized technical laboratory procedures requiring knowledge in the life and physical sciences.

    The Department of Corrections is seeking to fill a Laboratory Technician 1 located in Carson City. They will prepare a variety of standard culture media Stain and label specimens. Employees will draw blood and collect tissue samples as well as conduct observations and record test results. Employees will sterilize and decontaminate equipment, Label, mount and file specimens. When time is available, employees will prepare equipment, supplies and specimens for testing.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of laboratory experience performing various laboratory procedures; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
