    Description

    The City of Laguna Beach is seeking a knowledgeable, forward-thinking, and highly organized professional to serve as a Senior Administrative Analyst in the Fire Department. In this key role, the Senior Administrative Analyst will work directly with the Fire Chief to support a wide range of administrative functions, including budget development and oversight, preparation of City Council and staff reports, drafting memos, and developing presentations for Council and public meetings. The position is also responsible for contract development and compliance, applying for and managing grants, and overseeing departmental projects. Additionally, the Senior Administrative Analyst will play a vital role in supporting the implementation of the Fire Department’s Strategic Plan.

    Qualifications

    Any combination demonstrating the ability to effectively and successfully perform the duties of the position is considered qualifying. A typical combination is as follows:

    Experience: A minimum of four years experience in a public agency or private company in a related capacity is preferred.

    Education: Graduation from a recognized four year college or university program with major work in public administration, business administration, or a related field is required. A Master's Degree is desirable. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for a portion of the required education.

    This recruitment will establish an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies in the same or lower classifications.

Applications will be screened carefully, and selected applicants will be invited to participate in the Structured Panel Interview. The appointing hiring authority will further review the job-related qualifications of those deemed eligible for hire before making selection decisions. The selection process may be modified based on the needs of the City.

    Pre-employment Process: Selected candidates must successfully pass a fingerprint check with the State Department of Justice. Education and employment verification and reference check(s) will also be conducted.
