    The Position

    Registered Dietitians provide nutritional care and medical nutrition therapy for individuals and groups in institutional, clinic, research, community and residential settings and provide nutrition education to clients/patients and families in accordance with accepted professional practices and standards.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    The Division of Public and Behavioral Health Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services in Sparks is hiring for a Registered Dietitian 2. Registered Dieticians provide nutritional care and diet therapy in the inpatient setting and provide nutritional education to patients and families. The Registered Dietician coordinates and evaluates nutritional services, education and menu implementation of the food service contractor. The incumbent engages in nutritional assessments and works to create therapeutic, dietary programming. The dietician provides oversight of nutritional therapy to ensure that it is congruent with the goals of the treatment plan for individual who are patients at the Dini-Townsend Hospital. As a member of the treatment team, this position provides valuable input into the comprehensive treatment plan and ultimately the recovery of patients at the hospital. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Current registration and licensure by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and one year of professional experience as a Registered Dietitian. Special Notes Per Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 640E, persons appointed to this class must be licensed as a Registered Dietitian in the State of Nevada. A temporary license may be granted, pending dietitian licensing in the State of Nevada to a person who holds a corresponding license in another jurisdiction. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting. Some positions require experience in pediatric nutrition including treatment of children with metabolic disorders and early intervention for developmentally delayed children ages birth to three years and will be designated at the time of recruitment. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
