DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is committed to excellence for both majors and non-majors, with an emphasis on transfer to CSU Chico, and UC. Our program prepares students for transfer to Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, and Computer Animation and Game Development programs at four-year institutions, supports Engineering and Mathematics majors, and prepares students for industry certification and careers as computer programmers, network administrators, computer system administrators, and information systems professionals. We work closely with area high schools to create career and transfer pathways for students.
We are looking for a team member who is committed to technical currency and has an understanding of and commitment to meeting the needs of both transfer programs to four-year institutions and area industries. The successful applicant will teach all freshman and sophomore-level computer science courses, advise and mentor students, and facilitate the development and growth of the computer science program.

Education Code § 87408.6 states that no person shall be initially employed by a community college district in an academic or classified position unless the person has submitted to an examination within the past sixty (60) days to determine that he or she is free of active tuberculosis.

In 2011, Butte College became the first college to become 'grid positive,' meaning that the College had the capacity to generate enough electricity from its solar arrays to fully offset its electricity cost.
