(Job #541229) Student Services Professional IV, Community and Practicum Coordinator, Salary Range: $6,019 - $8,585. This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, 12-month pay plan permanent position with a one-year probationary period in the Department of Social Work. Position Summary: The Community Placement and Practicum Education Coordinator oversees all elements of practicum education in the Department of Social Work's BA and MSW programs, both on campus and online. The Department of Social Work maintains an emphasis on working with Indigenous and rural communities. Coursework is designed to decolonize mainstream social work practice by building reciprocal and dynamic relationships and to support people who are rooted in their communities. MSW from a CSWE Accredited program is required for this position. A minimum of 2 years post-MSW practice experience as a social worker.
Key Responsibilities:60% Student Services a. Maintain and improve practicum placement process for undergraduate and graduate social work students, online and on campus.
b. Mediate, and resolve practicum problems confidentially involving students, agency supervisors, and faculty.
c. Work closely to counsel, support, and advise students through individual and group meetings to enhance their professional development.
d. Recruitment and retention of student practicum placement opportunities.
e. Coordinate orientations and educational training related to practicum preparation for incoming and continuing undergraduate and graduate students.
f. Support integration of theory into practice in undergraduate and graduate Social Work education.
20 % Community/Agency Services/Tribal Programs a. Develop and deliver orientations and ongoing training for practicum instructors (supervisors, mentors).
b. Provide ongoing monitoring and updating of practicum sites.
c. Plan and implement ongoing Practicum Instructor (supervisor) training to meet Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) standards and the Department of Social Work’s expectations for professional education.
d. Develop, establish, and facilitate opportunities for collaboration, engagement, and feedback from community partners regarding student practicum internships and professional development.
e. Facilitate and resolve any practicum concerns or issues to improve Social Work Department and community agencies/Tribal program relations.
f. Travel to establish and maintain relationships with community agencies/Tribal programs and social work professionals with the goal of a cohesive and comprehensive practicum education program.
15% Administrative Services a. Plan, administer, and evaluate the practicum placement process.
b. Create, revise, and maintain evaluation forms and processes for students, agency settings, and the practicum program as a whole.
c. Coordinate practicum education processes and training with Social Work faculty.
d. Design and publish the annual Practicum Education Handbook.
e. Write practicum sections of reports needed for accreditation, program evaluation or other purposes.
f. Initiate institutional contracts with community agencies and the program.
g. Work with faculty to continually improve integration and coordination between classroom education and practicum experience.
h. Develop local, national, and international relationships to foster student practicum internships and educational growth opportunities in Social Work.

Ability to carry out very complex assignments without detailed instructions; advise students individually or in groups on varied and complex matters; determine the appropriate course of action and proper techniques to utilize while engaged with individuals and groups in personal interactions of a sensitive nature; reason logically and analyze and solve organizational and operating problems of one or several program areas; plan, coordinate and initiate actions necessary to implement administrative or group decisions or recommendations; analyze and define complex organizational, policy or procedural problems, collect and evaluate data, draw valid conclusions and project consequences of various alternative courses of action; understand the roles and responsibilities of others and to gauge relationships accordingly by taking into account the variety of the interrelationships, motivations and goals of the members of the organization served; and establish and maintain effective, cooperative and harmonious working relationships in circumstances which involve the denial of requests or the necessity to persuade others to accept a different point of view.
As Related to Major Responsibilities: High-level interpersonal skills, strong analytical skills, flexible, collaborative, and creative functioning; Knowledge of critical social theories and education from a social justice framework; Demonstrated experience working with staff and students from diverse backgrounds; Practical experience with a range of human services; Experience working with community organizations on the North Coast; Experience working with Tribal oi• organizations.
Minimum Qualifications: Experience: Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience which includes experience in advising students individually and in groups, and in analysis and resolution of complex student services problems.
Education: In alignment with accreditation standards, the candidate must posses a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program and at least two years of post-baccalaureate social work degree or post-master’s social work degree practice experience in social work.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in supervision of students and staff and administrative program implementation; Experience in program development, assessment, and evaluation.
