Special Education Teacher – Warrenton, VA

Location: Warrenton, VA

Assignment Dates: October 5, 2026 – May 28, 2027

Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:30 AM–3:30 PM

⏰ Hours: Approximately 7.5 hours/day | 37.5 hours/week

Setting: School-Based | In Person

Caseload: Approximately 10 students

Services: Push-In & Push-Out

Certification Required: Virginia Special Education License

Position Overview

Supplemental Health Care is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students in a school-based setting in Warrenton, Virginia. This position will provide both push-in and push-out services while collaborating closely with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and the IEP team.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Services

  • Follow assigned schedules and provide direct special education services and student pull-outs.
  • Plan and deliver specially designed instruction (SDI) aligned with students' IEP goals.
  • Review assigned IEPs, including goals, services, accommodations, behavior intervention plans, and related service plans.
  • Maintain appropriate instructional materials and an organized learning environment.
  • Collect student academic and behavioral data at required intervals, including reading fluency cold reads when assigned.

IEP & Case Management

  • Track IEP timelines and important due dates.
  • Prepare, write, present, finalize, and implement IEPs as assigned.
  • Prepare for and participate in Child Study, eligibility, reevaluation, and other student meetings.
  • Complete and submit progress reports using current student data by required deadlines.
  • Accurately document service delivery and IEP minutes.
  • Identify missed services and coordinate make-up services or coverage according to division procedures.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with general education teachers regarding instructional plans, service schedules, classroom support, and IEP minutes.
  • Ensure appropriate staff understand and implement student accommodations, behavioral supports, and safety plans.
  • Coordinate with speech, OT, PT, and other related service providers as needed.
  • Communicate student progress and concerns with families in a timely and professional manner.
  • Document significant family communication.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Follow assigned schedules and communicate any necessary changes promptly.
  • Notify administration and affected staff promptly regarding absences and provide appropriate coverage information.
  • Respond to requests, clarify priorities when needed, complete assigned tasks by established deadlines, and communicate barriers early.
  • Maintain accurate and accessible student and service records.

Qualifications

  • Active Virginia Special Education teaching license required
  • Special education teaching experience preferred
  • Experience with IEP development, implementation, and case management preferred
  • Experience providing push-in and push-out services preferred
