School Crossing GuardThe City is an equal opportunity employer. School Crossing Guards (SCG) are independent contractors that are only scheduled days in accordance with the School Board of Okaloosa County school year calendar.Pay is $30.00 per shift. A shift includes the morning AND afternoon of one school zone. There may be an opportunity to work up to two (2) shifts per day.The SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD shall be responsible to provide services for the CITY to:Ensure the safety of children and pedestrians at designated intersections and school crossings.Be present at assigned crossings during scheduled times; only leave in emergencies.Follow all regulations regarding uniform, equipment, and appearance.Provide personal transportation to and from the crossing site.Keep accurate records of arrival, departure, and unusual incidents.Report any injuries or vehicle accidents to the Police Department immediately.Operate communication devices as instructed by the Chief of Police.Hold a valid Florida driver's license.Interact with the public and department personnel with tact, firmness, and clear communication.Job Responsibilities:Provide services on a scheduled basis, determined by the Chief of Police:Attend any required training sessions.Receive direction and supervision from the Chief of Police or his designate.Agree to be evaluated by written documentation on CITY evaluation forms as required.Arrive punctually for work and be properly attired.Please see the below list of school zones that the Crestview Police Department is responsible for staffing for available shift opportunities: The Okaloosa County School Board has not officially adopted the school zone time for the 2025 – 2026 as of the time of this posting. The times reflected are from the 2024 school year.Crestview High School - Morning: 0630-0710 - Afternoon: 1345-1425Davidson Middle School - Morning: 0625-0710 - Afternoon: 1320-1400Shoal River Middle School - Morning: 0730-0845 - Afternoon: 1435-1545Riverside Elementary School - Morning: 0730-0845 - Afternoon: 1435-1545Northwood Elementary School - Morning: 0750-0830 - Afternoon: 1450-1530Antioch Elementary School - Morning: 0815-0855 - Afternoon: 1455-1535This position is not eligible for benefits.
