Summary
This is a temporary trainee classification used to qualify and train candidates in filling permanent Police Officer positions. Participants undergo a Qualifying Training Program that includes formal classroom instruction on basic police procedures, techniques, and laws necessary to perform the duties of a Dallas Police Officer.ResponsibilitiesAttend a 32‑week Basic Training Course at the Dallas Police Academy, which provides classroom and field instruction in basic police procedures, techniques, and laws.After passing the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Basic Peace Officer Licensing Examination, receive additional training in Dallas Police Department specific courses, including Dallas City Code (city ordinances) and other real‑life police situations and functions.Perform related duties, including special projects, as requested or required.Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance, which is an essential function of the job.#J-18808-Ljbffr
