Chief of Police

The chief of police, under general direction, is responsible for the overall planning, development, and implementation of a comprehensive and dynamic public safety and law enforcement program at Miami University.

Minimum Qualifications

The position requires a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related discipline, with progressive administrative, supervisory, and management experience in a recognized public safety or law enforcement environment. Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification must be attained within required timeline.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior law enforcement experience at a higher education institution, working with a diverse student body on a residential campus.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
