SUNY Broome Community College has an immediate opening for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track Assistant Librarian (Systems Librarian) in the Cecil C. Tyrell Library. This specialized technical role is responsible for the architecture, integration, and optimization of the digital systems that power the Libraries' online services. The position manages the backend platforms and collaborates with the Electronic Resources Librarian to manage electronic resources, authentication systems, and embedded tools that support research, instruction, and student learning. The Assistant Librarian (Systems Librarian) collaborates closely with the College's Web Developer and ensures that library systems and digital services are properly configured, accessible, and seamlessly incorporated into the College's core web environment in alignment with SUNY standards and campus Information Technology (IT) protocols. The ideal candidate will have good communication skills and a commitment to providing responsive and innovative reference services.ResponsibilitiesProvide centralized oversight and ensure that library systems, specifically the Ex Libris Alma and Primo platform, perform reliably to support circulation, cataloguing, acquisitions, and resource sharing.Collaborate with Electronic Resources, Access Services, Instruction and Outreach, and Resource Sharing to enhance efficiency, minimize service interruptions, and promote innovation in library services.Serve as primary liaison alongside the Electronic Resource Librarian between the Library and the College's Information Technology Services, ensuring that the library systems align with institutional technology standards, cybersecurity protocols, and single sign-on (SSO) authentication systems.Provide timely and efficient troubleshooting and resolution for technical issues across library platforms.Plan and execute system updates, platform enhancements, and the integration of new library technology.Serve as the subject liaison for assigned academic programs, partnering with faculty to support curriculum needs and student research.Work with Marketing and Communications (MarCom) to maintain the Library web page.RequirementsAmerican Library Association (ALA) accredited Master of Library Science (MLS) degree or equivalent degree in Information Science. Additional graduate work in an appropriate field is desirable.Three years of professional library experience, or appropriate combination of librarianship, relevant work experience, and scholarly activity.Experience in the use of traditional and electronic resources.Familiarity with library-oriented hardware and software.Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.Preferred QualificationsExperience with the Ex Libris Alma and Primo platforms.Experience with the Springshare LibGuides and related Springshare produces (e.g., LibGuides), ILLiad, and Ellucian Banner.Functional understanding of Google analytics.Conversant with WCAG 2.1 AA digital accessibility standards and best practices for inclusive design.Additional InformationThis is an in-person position with a standard work week of Monday through Friday.The minimum salary for this position is $67,820.
