Externship Opportunity
The Unified Family Court is accepting applications from law students interested in an externship for Fall, Spring, or Summer.
Externs will be responsible for preparing written summaries of motions and pleadings on matters appearing on the daily calendar. The Court will also assign research projects to the externs concerning family law issues. The externs' work will be supervised by the Judges, Commissioner, or the Staff Attorney as appropriate.
The externship will provide students the opportunity to attend the Law and Motion hearings on the matters they prepare and to participate in the various functions of the Family Court.
Interested students should submit the following documents via email to the Unified Family Court Supervising Staff Attorney Eileen Eib at eeib@sftc.org:
- Cover Letter (include any interest or prior experience in family law, and specify if you are interested in a Fall, Spring, or Summer externship)
- Updated Resume
- Law School Transcript
- Three References (at least one professional reference)
- Writing Sample (no longer than 10 pages)
If you are interested in an externship for the Fall semester, please submit your materials by June 30th. If you are interested in an externship for the Spring semester, please submit your materials by November 15th. If you are interested in an externship for the Summer, please submit your materials by March 31st.
Applications are accepted and decisions will be made on a rolling basis.
