Position DetailsPosition: Full Time Public Safety OfficerDivision: Police/Public Safety DepartmentDepartment: Livingstone Campus Police/Public Safety DepartmentReports to: Sergeant of Public SafetyPosition SummaryPublic Safety Officer's uphold and enforce Livingstone College rules and regulations in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct handbook. Enforcing the rules of the college ensures the safety of the faculty, staff, students and college properties. This civilian role works closely with the sworn police officers to maintain a safe college community.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesRespond to emergency calls and report college violations while conducting routine patrols of the college properties; investigate minor accidents and other college violations including assaults, burglaries, and unbecoming student conduct.Provide safety to the entire campus family, render medical aid to those in need, and identify safety hazards around all college properties.Perform parking management and enforcement.Work during inclement weather to ensure safety of the college family and properties while following safety protocols.Education & ExperienceHigh School Diploma or Equivalent.Minimum of 2 years of experience in public safety, police, or military related fields.Must be at least 21 years of age.Strong communication skills a plus.Must possess a valid driver's license.Must be familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).Successfully complete drug screen and background investigation.Demonstrate excellence in problem solving and de‑escalating techniques.Able to adapt to working schedule, times and days.Must work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, overtime hours, be available for on‑call or special events, and be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.About the CollegeLivingstone College is a private historically Black college that is committed to quality instruction, academic excellence, and student success.
