Job Description
OverviewThe Construction Inspector II - Streets Division plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and compliance of road and streets under the jurisdiction of Engineering Services. This position involves meticulous inspection of construction activities to guarantee adherence to approved plans and specifications. The Construction Inspector II - Streets Division primarily oversees medium to large-scale projects encompassing streets, utilities, bridges, and subdivisions.
Responsibilities
• Ensures adherence to design drawings, specifications, and relevant regulations during construction activities
• Verifies that materials and workmanship meet project requirements and comply with specified standards
• Oversees compliance with traffic control standards to ensure public safety
• Enforces the City's "Storm Waste Water Pollution Prevention Plan" (SWPP) to manage environmental impact
• Conduct quality control testing at appropriate intervals and initiate corrective actions as needed
• Assists in resolving construction problems and disputes
• Develops and maintains daily construction and inspection logs for comprehensive documentation
• Processes contractors pay for applications and submittals, including responses to Request for Information (RFI) requests
• Determines the necessity of changing work orders and facilitate communication between project teams
• Follow up with progress meetings and ensure the project team has the necessary information for negotiating change orders
• Maintains clear project team members, businesses, property owners, and city/franchise utilities
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
• Non-Exempt - Full Time
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma/ GED
• Five (5) Years of experience
Certifications, Licenses or other requirements
Required
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
• Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
