Location 3304 Community Boulevard,Killeen, TX, 76540,United StatesBase Pay $22.60 / HourEmployee Type FT Non-ExemptRequired Degree 2 Year DegreeJob Posting Closes: 09/16/2026CITY OF KILLEEN POSITION DESCRIPTIONProvide support to criminal investigations by performing routine and complex crime scene processing.The employee will have the responsibility of:Responding to crime scenes under various and potentially extreme conditions to collect, preserve, and process physical evidence, such as latent fingerprints, hair, fibers blood, projectiles, shell casings, weapons, firearms, and tool and tire marksPreparing detailed evidence submission forms for use by laboratory personnel which outline specific tests to be performed on evidenceCreating crime scene sketches and drawingsDeveloping, photographs, and lifts latent prints found at crime scenes, or on items related to criminal cases, utilizing print enhancement chemicals, techniques, and photography equipmentServing as a department representative when meeting with prosecuting attorneys and other law enforcement agencies; providing formal depositions regarding crime scene information and physical evidenceTransporting evidence to and from crime scenes, other law enforcement agencies, hospitals, and crime laboratoriesConducting chemical tests on blood, drugs, body fluids, fibers, etc., found at, or believed to be related to, crime scenesConducting ballistic tests and analysis for firearmsBeing able to respond to crime scenes/emergencies within a 30-minute response timeThe work environment will require the employee to:Frequently work in various outside weather conditionsOccasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditionsBe exposed to bio-hazardous material, which could include deceased persons of various ages and in various stages of decomposition, hazardous materials, and chemicalsAs an employee with the city of Killeen some benefits are:Health insurance from Blue Cross Blue Shield of TXDental and Vision insuranceRetirement through TMRS (Optional 4579(b) Accounts)Paid Vacation and Sick LeaveWellness Events & Free Gym MembershipRequired Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience:30 college credit hours in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field; orTwo years of experience in evidence collection and prevention; orEquivalent combination of education and experienceSpecialized training in crime scene investigation and evidence handling preferredSpecial Requirements:Must pass through a background investigationMust have a valid driver's license by date of hireMust obtain and maintain a Texas driver's license within 60 days of hireMust obtain Forensic and Crime Scene certifications and licenses within three years of hireAdditional InformationRequired Documentation Proof of Education#J-18808-Ljbffr
