The Town of Brewster is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Health Inspector for the Health Department. This part-time position performs professional, technical and inspection work enforcing public health laws and regulations.

Under the direction of the Health Director, the Health Inspector serves as the department's primary inspector for short-term rentals, inspecting rental properties for compliance with relevant codes. Assists with sanitary inspections of food establishments, motels, recreation camps for children, campgrounds, pools, housing and other establishments to ensure compliance with local and state laws and regulations. Conducts all inspections in a timely and efficient manner. Investigates complaints concerning housing, trash, odor, dust, air and noise pollution. Enforces Board of Health orders; maintains appropriate records and prepares reports.

High School Degree or equivalent required, Associates Degree in Science or Public Health preferred or at least two years of coursework in a Bachelor's degree program in Environmental Public Health or related field, minimum one year of experience in related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work cohesively with others and the ability to process & understand State regulations. Is this the job for you? This is a part-time, 19 hour a week position covered under the Town's Personnel Bylaw Agreement, with a starting pay range of $31.61- $35.59 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
