Summary
Physical Security Specialist
The Physical Security Specialist will perform on-site administrative services and access control to buildings utilizing a variety of computer databases and ongoing communication with colleagues.
Applicant shall be available during core work hours as established by the Government customer.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain and utilize Government-furnished computerized visitor databases to include the Security Management Systems (SMS), Defense Information System for Security (DISS) or follow on system, Command Reporting Operations Support System (CROSS), hardcopy clearance records or visit authorization files and forms.
- Access management: Develop and enforce access control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with security standards and protocol.
- Communicate and educate others on access control protocols and best practices for security awareness
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of access control activities including logs, meeting lists, and equipment sign-outs
- Verify clearances and compare inquiries to databases.
- Follow protocol for meetings and effectively communicate with colleagues, other companies and government personnel
- Monitor all on-site personnel for compliance to security policies and regulations within a SCIF.
- Issue, receive, update and conduct inventory/accountability of badges
- Monitor and evaluate directorates for OPSEC, INFOSEC, and maintain a strong overall security posture.
- Support functions pertaining to physical security involving restricted areas.
- Monitor, track and scan all property and equipment entering a Restricted Area ensuring proper equipment inventory forms are completed, up to date, and filed.
- Receive, register, control and safeguard incoming and outgoing security classified mail.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements/Education
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Experienced in Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and use of databases.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Great customer service skills and professionalism with visitors and collaboration with others.
- Ability to multi-task working with visitors, various computer tasks, and phone calls.
- Preferred experience using DISS, SMS, CROSS or other similar government databases.
Security Requirement
- TS/SCI clearance required or hold TS if eligible for SCI.
