Summary
Description- Communicates information to drivers concerning in-service mechanical failures, accidents, passenger incidents and all other schedule interruptions; also responsible for developing and communicating alternate routes in case of road construction or other roadblocks.
- Completes all required reports including incident/occurrence reports.
- Coordinates and verifies daily assignment of operators for regular shift replacement or re-assignment ensuring each run has a driver assigned and the run pulls on time.
- Uses computerized routing and scheduling software program to monitor vehicles and trips. After an initial training period, employees are assigned a shift to receive calls and dispatch vehicles in accordance with established procedures
- Communicates changes in trips, no shows and cancellations.
- Reviews the previous days completed manifests and enters the information.
- Collaborates with routing specialists and schedulers to optimize routes.
- Dispatches drivers using information provided by the clients through the reservation department and the online reservation application.
- Review and respond to all incoming calls, confirming all details with the client review reservation two weeks out.
- Discuss with the client availability to review online reservations.
- Field incoming calls for the exact day requests, ensure availability and examine possible route changes.
- Initiate all outbound calls to the city connect and access.
- Troubleshot and resolve potential pick-up problems before they result in service issues.
- Ensure service on missed pick-ups by coordinating driver movement in the field.
- Assist in determining the daily level of driver staffing to provide the best mix of responsiveness and productivity.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of two (2) years of dispatching experience required
- Must have a valid South Carolina Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement
- Must be able to work under time constraints and deadlines
- Must have problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred
- Public transportation experience preferred
- Prior dispatch/supervisory experience preferred.
