AEC Medical Transport & Rapid Response (AEC-MTRR) is a leading interfacility ambulance transport company dedicated to providing exceptional medical transportation services. As part of our commitment to excellence, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Medical Dispatcher to join our team.
As an Emergency Medical Dispatcher at AEC-MTRR, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing ambulance transport services for patients in need of interfacility transfers. Working closely with our dispatch team and ambulance crews, you will be responsible for ensuring timely response to medical emergencies and coordinating the safe transport of patients to their designated healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Emergency Response Coordination: Promptly assess incoming calls, gather essential information, and dispatch appropriate ambulances.
- Communication Management: Maintain clear and effective communication with ambulance crews, healthcare facilities to coordinate patient transfers and ensure seamless transitions of care.
- Resource Allocation: Efficiently allocate available resources, including ambulances and medical personnel, to prioritize and respond to emergency calls based on urgency and severity of patient condition.
- Documentation: Accurately record all relevant information related to emergency calls, patient transfers, and dispatch activities in our computer-aided dispatch system, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company protocols.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives to enhance dispatch procedures, optimize response times, and improve overall service delivery.
- Customer Service: Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and compassion when interacting with patients, family members, and healthcare professionals, providing reassurance and support during stressful situations.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 19 years old or older at time of hire for insurance purposes
- Previous experience as an emergency medical dispatcher or in a similar role within the healthcare or emergency services industry preferred.
- Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT)
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, emergency protocols, and dispatch procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely under pressure.
- Proficiency in using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and other relevant software applications.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and decisive in high-stress situations while multitasking effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality, privacy, and dignity at all times.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
