Job Title Rail Operations DispatcherJob Description This posting is to fill the current vacancy and to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies that may occur in the next six months.Education and/or Experience:High school diploma or equivalent. Three years experience in transportation operations. Familiarity with route/driver assignments is desirable. Must possess excellent computer skills in Microsoft applications. Must be able to successfully complete dispatch training.Interview Selection Process:The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants' knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.Summary:Maintains personnel/pay records and assigns runs for rail operators, ensuring a proper number is available to maintain revenue service. Demonstrated dependability through attendance required, checks Operators for fitness for duty.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Ensures that an adequate number of operators are available to fill all scheduled service.Makes daily work assignments to operators in accordance with the labor agreement.Maintains operator daily work record, payroll sheet, and other related documents.Monitors the appearance and physical composure of the operators reporting for duty.Assists the Chief Dispatcher in the day-to-day operations of the Dispatcher's office.Acquires and maintains a working knowledge of the union contract and operating rules and regulations.Must be able to conduct mark-ups for Rail Operations.Must check Operators for fitness for duty.Performs other related duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:Makes work assignments to operators.Special Requirements:*Must pass physical examination, including drug and alcohol screen.*Must successfully pass background investigation by Georgia Crime Information Center.Americans with Disabilities Act:If you are a qualified individual with a disability, you have a right to request that MARTA make reasonable accommodations in order to help you accomplish your work, which must still be performed in all its essential functions.MARTA is a Drug-Free Workplace.
