Patrol Deputies are responsible for:Responding to calls for serviceConducting traffic enforcementAssisting other law enforcement agenciesPatrolling approximately 906 square milesProviding service to a growing population of roughly 187,336residentsDeputies primarily patrolunincorporated areas of the county but will respond to requests for servicefrom residents anywhere assistance is needed.CivilDivisionCivil Division Deputies perform a widerange of duties crucial to courthouse operations and civil process functions.Responsibilities include:Maintaining courthouse security and orderEnsuring the safety of judges, attorneys, county employees, and thepublicManaging the screening of approximately 35,000 individuals annuallyConducting in-state and out-of-state warrant transportsPerforming writ transports and evictionsTransporting inmates to and from courtCarrying out mental health transportsServing civil process documentsSchoolResource DivisionSchool Resource Deputies (SROs) aresworn law enforcement officers assigned to school campuses to provide safety,security, and mentorship. Responsibilities include:Responding to calls for service occurring on school propertyEnforcing local and state lawsBuilding positive relationships with studentsConducting presentations on youth-related topicsWorking collaboratively with school administratorsAssisting other divisions during summer monthsDeputies assigned as SROs mustdemonstrate strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to supporting youth inan educational environment.JuvenileInvestigations DivisionDeputies assigned to JuvenileInvestigations work Monday through Friday, generally during standard businesshours. Duties include:Communicating effectively with juveniles, parents, teachers, andadministratorsWorking closely with agencies such as DHS, OJA, and other lawenforcement entitiesHandling cases involving truancy, neglect, drug offenses, and otherjuvenile-related crimesProviding mentorship and guidance to youthServing civil paperwork related to juvenile casesTransporting juveniles and adults in custody for court hearingsAssisting with juvenile warrant transports within the stateSupporting the Patrol Division as neededCourt Liaison DeputyThe Court Liaison Deputy works withinthe Civil Division and is responsible for facilitating communication andmovement between the Sheriff's Office, the courthouse, and the jail.
