FORESTRY TECHNICIAN (PI)

Forestory Technician

Incumbents will perform routine technical resource management assignments of average difficulty. They will perform basic fire control assignments during fire season and occasionally at other times. They will receive training in the Department's "Basic Fire Fighter" training as is required for Fire Fighter II. They may receive additional training, as required, to perform their assigned functions, in such areas as introduction to surveying, map reading, cruising, dendrology, and basic program areas. Tasks will further Natural Resources Program projects and programs as identified by the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), in support of District Wildfire and Forest Resilience Program. The reporting location is Russian Gulch District Office located at 12301 North Highway 1, Mendocino, CA 95460.

This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. Possession of a valid Class C driver's license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver's license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver's license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application. Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
