Summary

*This position requires a Maryland Security Guard License.*

Shifts

  • Part-Time, Monday-Friday, 2:00 PM-6:00 PM and 2:00 PM-8:00 PM
  • Part-Time, Saturdays and Sundays, 1:00 PM-5:00 PM

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete patrols inside and outside of the building, encompassing the parking lot. Rounds are done periodically of all areas, including public areas, restrooms, meeting and staffing areas.
  • Providing an immediate response to any disturbances, proposing an efficient solution.
  • Appropriately address any safety concerns or issues.
  • Maintain a daily duty log, where all activities and / or incidents are notated for each shift.
  • Compose a monthly report to submit.
  • Check-in with the Librarian-In-Charge and / or the Information Desk Staff at the beginning of each shift. Security violations should be reported to the Librarian-In-Charge before responding, unless it's an emergency.
  • Perform closing procedures and conduct a final patrol, ensuring that all public meeting rooms and bathrooms do not have staff and / or customers within them, along with making sure the Security Guard has signed out of the duty log.

Requirements

  • Possessing an active Maryland Security Guard License.
  • A minimum of 1 year of Security Experience, where 6 of those months encompassed working with the public.
  • Having a Valid Driver's License.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Sustaining professional relationships with staff and customers.
  • Being attentive, alert, responsive, and visible to staff and customers.
  • Proficient in MS Office Programs, including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • This position could require prolong sitting and / or standing, bending, stooping, walking flights of stairs, running, and demonstrating the ability to defend yourself or others.
