Plans and coordinates pickup and delivery requests from customers and coordinates driver routes. Specific duties include but are not limited to:Provide support in overseeing equipment assignments in preparation for driver routesAssist in determining manpower required to staff routes efficiently while ensuring on-time service and that our customer's freight is delivered/picked-up in a timely mannerReview daily performance reports to identify problem areas; monitor and analyze all opportunities to improve efficienciesAdjust routes as needed due to traffic, weather or other foreseen circumstancesAnswer questions/concerns from drivers, including but not limited to, company policies and procedures, dispatch rules, driver's manual, safety and security proceduresMonitor and input data into all applicable systemsEssential DutiesProvide drivers with necessary paperwork (manifests, bill packets, scanning devices, assist with equipment, etc.)Interact with drivers, providing them with daily necessities (i.e. communications and documents) pertaining to driver logs, driver huddle, etc.Communicate with supervisors, planners and customer service to coordinate projections and movement of trailers and freightMonitor vehicle maintenance schedules and report any issuesMonitor progress of shipments; ensure cut-times and appointment compliance; notify management and/or customers of any delaysVerify and complete required documentation and reports; perform administrative functions as requiredCommunicate with Account Executives/Manager, as required, to ensure customers and company's needs are metComply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/proceduresPerform other duties as requiredWork Experience RequirementsKnowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook,) and InternetOne or more years of LTL transportation industry experienceStrong communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)Knowledge of LTL Industry, DOT Rules and Regulations, OSHA Laws and Hazardous MaterialsAble to work independently and take initiative without immediate local supervisionMulti-tasked oriented and possess good organizational skillsMay be required to work flexible hoursTransportation Dispatcher / Supervisory experience preferredMay require evening, weekend, and holidays availability based on business needEducation RequirementsSome college required; Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical schoolSix months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.Working ConditionsStandard warehouse conditions apply. Long hours spent sitting at a computer work station required. Walking, bending, crouching and other similar activities may be required.
