About Our EMS Network: American Ambulance Service, Inc, is a subsidiary of the Hartford HealthCare EMS Network, a comprehensive, multidisciplinary EMS system which includes licensed EMS agencies, hospital-based paramedic response resources, air-medical response resources, education and research, and hospital-based coordinators and medical directors. Our headquarters is located in Norwich, CT and we have additional offices in Griswold, Ledyard, and at Foxwoods Resort Casino. American Ambulance provides a full range of emergent and non-emergent medical transportation services by highly trained professionals to ensure safe, quick, and compassionate patient care.
Your Impact: The Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) is responsible for effective communications, call entry, and dispatching for all 911 emergency and non-emergency medical transportation requests. Operating within our 911 Emergency Communications Call Center, this unique telecommunicator position will not only act as a 911 operator, but also as a liaison between healthcare facilities and our medical transportation team to effectively communicate available resources and expected arrival times, schedule non-emergency medical transportations, and ensure timelines are being met or new arrival expectations are set.
Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Must have basic computer knowledge and skills. Current Priority Dispatch EMD Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Regular Standard Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule: Full-time (40 hours) Shift Details: Mix of evenings and nights including a weekend shift
