Torrance Fire Department (TFD) is dedicated to protecting and providing for life safety, environmental protection, and property conservation through education, hazard reduction, and emergency response. The Torrance Fire Department is a nationally recognized ISO Class 1 premier all-risk public safety organization and a Center for Public Safety (CPSE) Accredited Agency. The City of Torrance takes great pride in the quality of its staff, stations, and equipment. The Department provides 24-hour "all-risk" safety service by staffing seven engine companies, two truck companies, five paramedic rescue units, and a Basic Life Support Ambulance service. These resources are geographically distributed throughout the City's six fire stations and are commanded by a shift Battalion Chief. The same personnel and apparatus are available to respond to all other types of emergency incidents. Cross discipline of these resources gives us a rapid response to all types of incidents throughout the City.
