ResponsibilitiesClean and maintain roads, alleyways, parkways, streets, open spaces, cemetery, and other city facilities; haul debris and trash; install curbs and sidewalks.Perform street construction and maintenance activities; participate in the construction and maintenance of streets including patching of potholes and reconstruction of shoulders; participate in curb and sidewalk projects.Construct forms, lay cement and finish cement on curb, gutter, sidewalk, street, alley and other related areas; dig ditches, backfill trenches and holes; install storm drain pipes.Operate hand tools; utilize street maintenance and gardening equipment; clean and maintain equipment.Break and repair concrete and asphalt surfaces; excavate and replace concrete, asphalt and blacktop surfaces.Set up and take down construction site signage and barricades for traffic control.Mix materials to be used on job assigned.Participate in sign installation and maintenance activities; participate in the stripping of streets; ensure accuracy and adherence to safety regulations.Perform street lighting activities including installation, maintenance and replacement services; troubleshoot street lighting failures; resolve maintenance problems.Prepare streets during seasonal weather conditions including salting and plowing of streets and parking lots.Participate in playground installations and maintenance activities.Perform grounds maintenance activities including the mowing of lawns, and performing landscaping, and general grounds maintenance activities; perform grounds maintenance activities for the City cemetery.Operate a variety of construction equipment including tractors, trucks, loaders, mowers, sweepers, backhoes and a variety of hand tools.Maintain records and log of all work performed.Respond to public inquiries; investigate and respond to complaints from the public; resolve issues in the area of assignment.Secondary DutiesPerform other duties as assigned.QualificationsAny combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.Experience: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.Training: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.Licensing & Certifications: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license preferred.#J-18808-Ljbffr
