In this role, you'll help ensure the City's financial operations are accurate, efficient, and transparent while supporting responsible stewardship of public funds.

What You'll Do
As an Accounting Technician, you'll play an important role in the City's day-to-day financial operations by:
- Process accounts payable invoices and procurement card transactions.
- Assist with procurement and purchasing activities.
- Manage vendor documentation, including W-9 forms and annual 1099 reporting.
- Process cash receipts, accounts receivable, and monthly customer billings.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Perform monthly general ledger and account reconciliations.
- Compile financial data and prepare reports.
- Assist with the City's annual operating budget and Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
- Research financial information for Open Records Requests.
- Provide excellent customer service to vendors, departments, government agencies, and the public.
- Perform other accounting and financial support duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a professional who demonstrates:
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Understanding of municipal accounting practices, procurement procedures, and IRS reporting requirements.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Strong computer skills, including accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment to integrity, accuracy, and outstanding customer service.
Work Environment
- Professional office setting within the City's Finance Department.
- Primarily desk and computer work with occasional lifting of light office materials.
- Collaborative team environment focused on serving internal departments and the public.
- Reports directly to the Controller with guidance from the Finance Director.
Minimum Requirements
- Specialized training in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field beyond a high school diploma (Associate degree preferred).
- Minimum of two (2) years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience, preferably in a municipal or governmental environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain bonding.
