Responsibilities and QualificationsResponsible for the care, custody and control of inmates at the Centre County Correctional Facility.Maintain safety and security by directing and supervising activities in the Prison.Conduct searches on incoming inmates and prepare them for commitment.Make rounds and ensure proper head count as well as the safety of the Prison is in order.Document and maintain daily log of prison activities and/or incidents.Observe inmates, their activities and any unusual behaviors or needs.Check incoming mail, clothing, and other items for contraband or other illegal items.Serve meals and assist in distribution of prepared medications to inmates.Ensure all doors and windows are locked and the prison is secure.Interface with prisoners to determine their needs or problems.Assist in transporting inmates as necessary (i.e., for counselors, lawyers, or to other prisons).Oversee visitations within the prison.Assist in entering statistical data in computer for database records.Perform simple interior repairs (i.e., changing light bulbs, emptying trash, sweeping floor, etc.).Perform field urine drug tests for inmates.Perform other job-related work as required.This is a safety/security position and requires successful completion of several pre-employment requirements.Must satisfactorily fulfill the requirements of a Training Academy certified by the PA Department of Corrections.Minimum age: 18 yrs.PT employees average 32 hours per week and get promoted to full time status within 6 months.
