The Specialist/Sr Specialist, Pilot Recruitment Operations, is part of the People Division. This role is responsible for tracking each pilot candidate's progress, coordinating with departments such as Flight Training to manage class schedules, and ensuring candidates receive timely and professional communication throughout the process.
What you'll do
- Monitor the health and progress of the pilot candidate pipeline
- Partner with the Flight Training team to align on class capacity and scheduling needs
- Manage a high volume of email and phone communications to ensure all pilot candidates are contacted prior to their class date
- Collect feedback and data from recruiters, management, and internal/external stakeholders
- Collaborate across departments to effectively communicate the Aviation Careers recruitment story
- Use data insights to identify and recommend process improvements that enhance consistency and efficiency
- Support strategic department goals related to both immediate and long-term staffing needs
- Review and manage sensitive new hire information for accurate distribution to relevant departments
- Coordinate with multiple teams to ensure a smooth and successful onboarding experience for all candidates
- Leverage technology to streamline recruitment operations and maintain American Airlines' competitive position in the industry
- Represent American Airlines at recruitment events and company-sponsored functions
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in recruitment, human resources, or a related field
- Experience with recruitment software and applicant tracking systems
Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience
- Associate's degree or equivalent required
- Knowledge of aviation industry and pilot recruitment processes
- 2 years of experience in recruitment, human resources, or a related field
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve departmental objectives
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Detailed experience utilizing Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, power maps)
- Experience with recruitment software and applicant tracking systems (desired)
- Experience with Power BI or Tableau
- Knowledge of PRIA
