Job TitlePersonnel Assistant ISummaryThis position performs a variety of general personnel clerical tasks in such areas as employee records, benefits, education, training, employment/staffing, compensation, employee labor relations, and equal employment opportunity/affirmative action. The Personnel Assistant may conduct surveys and update manual and automated personnel records.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position performs a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, clerical and secretarial duties. The work is under general supervision of higher‑level personnel in preparation of various human resource tasks throughout compensation, benefits, staffing/employment, EEO procedures and policy administration. The Personnel Assistant I is expected to exercise discretion at all times; limited judgment may be necessary at times. This assistant may be required to operate general office equipment such as a typewriter, personal computer, copier, adding machine, and facsimile. The incumbent must be able to analyze a situation analytically, evaluate the facts/data and formulate a plan of action.QualificationsHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education level.Minimum 2 years of administrative military personnel experience (preferred).U.S. citizen.Clearable to obtain a federal clearance.National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) and FBI fingerprint check (or eDoD‑determined equivalent investigation) satisfactory.Operational knowledge and/or experience processing identification issuance requests and issuing identification badges for building and system access and DoD CAC Card issuance policies and procedures; certificates of completion proving successful completion of all required DEERS/RAPIDS Training detailed in Technical Exhibit 5‑6 by the end of the Phase‑In Period.Valid U.S. state driver's license, applicable for the type and class of vehicle being operated.Language SkillsMust be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. Ability to read, comprehend and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails and correspondence from inside the organization as well as from external sources. Ability to effectively respond, communicate and present information to clients and other employees.Physical DemandsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
