The Baillie Group's Wagner Lumber, in Owego, NY, is hiring for a Procurement Forester. This is a full‑time opportunity working for a world‑class hardwood lumber manufacturer. The position requires proficiency in all duties of a procurement forester, including locating, assessing, costing and negotiating the purchase and harvest of standing timber to supply logs to multiple hardwood sawmills.ResponsibilitiesPurchasing standing timberLocate and mark boundary lines.Crui​se standing timber for quantity.Appraise timber for quality and value.Locate skid roads and landing locations.Apply costs to all aspects of timber sale preparation and harvesting.Oversight of harvest of standing timber salesVisit harvest sites to determine if BMPs are being used appropriately.Assure boundary lines are being observed.Determine whether residual damage is acceptable.Check to see that the proper trees are being cut.Due diligence in purchasingTitle research.Qualify properties in advance of timber cruising.Apply for various types of permits.QualificationsA.S. Degree in Forestry or an affiliated discipline.B.S. in Forestry (preferred).Ability to work in a team atmosphere.Clean driving record required.Good communication skills.Proficient mathematical skills.Northern Hardwood tree ID and map reading skills.Pay & BenefitsMinimum – Anticipated maximum salary: $55,000 – $85,000 per year.Full‑time hours.Overtime hours and pay.Full plan of benefits.#J-18808-Ljbffr
