From its manufacturing locations at Chocolate Bayou and the Battleground Manufacturing Complex, it is a merchant marketer of butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene and high-density polyethylene with annual revenue of over $4 billion. The Chocolate Bayou Site is located in southeastern Texas about 40 miles south of Houston and consists of two Olefins units that produce approximately 4 bn pounds/year of ethylene, two Polypropylene units that produce approximately 1 bn pounds/year of polypropylene, and the Light Ends storage & transfer facilities at Stratton Ridge.Purpose of the JobThe Security and Emergency Preparedness Specialist supports emergency readiness, assists with regulatory compliance activities, and provides technical and administrative support for fire protection systems, site security operations, and preparedness planning at Chocolate Bayou Works (CBW). The role focuses on execution, coordination, record‑keeping, and program support.Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesAccountability 1: Emergency Preparedness & Response (Support)Tactical maintenance of ERT readiness (equipment, documentation, training schedules).Support execution of drills/exercises and participate in after‑action reviews.Maintain ER plans and documentation; update records under direction of the Manager.Provide technical support during emergency responses (ERT/IC support).Accountability 2: Fire Protection Systems & Emergency Equipment (Support)Coordinate inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) activities with contractors.Log impairments, maintain permits, and follow up on repair actions as assigned.Maintain fire system documentation, inspection records, equipment inventories, and reports.Accountability 3: Site Physical Security (Support & AFSO)Support access control and badging processes; monitor system functionality.Assist with documenting and tracking security incidents.Support compliance tasks such as drills, documentation updates, and access audits.Accountability 4: Regulatory Compliance & Program SupportPrepare and submit documentation and evidence for audits (e.g., VPP, regulatory, etc.).Assist with corrective action tracking and closure documentation.Maintain required regulatory records (ITPM logs, ER equipment inventories, security logs, etc.) for accuracy, proper retention, and timely updates.Accountability 5: Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Leadership InfluenceProvide technical advice and support to Operations and Maintenance for emergency readiness activities.Assist with ERT training logistics, scheduling, and communications.Participate in community/agency coordination activities as assigned.Skills & Knowledge RequiredEducation/ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED required; relevant technical coursework preferred.5–10 years industrial experience.3–7 years in emergency response, fire protection, and/or security roles; industrial environment.Technical SkillsBasic knowledge of fire protection systems and NFPA standards.Familiarity with OSHA and emergency preparedness regulations.Fire Responder experience required.EMS experience preferred.Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office.Behavioral SkillsStrong communication and teamwork skills.Ability to follow procedures and maintain detailed documentation.Good organization, prioritization, and reliability.Calm, disciplined presence under pressure.Our culture is one of honesty and integrity with an emphasis on safety, health and environmental performance.
