Patient Transportation Dispatcher Join our team as a part-time Patient Transportation Dispatcher in Montclair, NJ.Why Join Us?Thrive in a People-First Environment and Make Healthcare BetterThrive: We empower our team with career growth opportunities, tuition assistance, and resources that support your wellness, education, and financial well-being.People-First: We prioritize your well-being with paid time off, comprehensive health benefits, and a supportive, inclusive culture where you are valued and cared for.Make Healthcare Better: We use advanced technology to support our team and enhance patient care.Learn more about the benefits offered for this job.Get to Know Your Team:Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center is an 820,000-square-foot facility that offers the latest medical programs, cutting-edge technology, and patient-focused care that includes 365 beds, 1,200+ employees and a 27-bed Emergency Room/Fast Track Unit.ResponsibilitiesThe Transportation Dispatcher will be responsible for a variety of activities related to the transportation of patients, specimens, equipment, and call center duties.They will greet as well as assist patients and visitors at the hospital and clinics as directed.Communicate with patients in a warm and friendly manner regarding their care as it relates to the transport functionAnswer the telephone within 3 rings, identifying self and departmentLog requests for the Environmental Services, Linen, and Patient Transport departmentsEnter requests into the EPIC electronic medical record system appropriately, and escalate based on priority levelUse I-Pod/Transport system to receive proper hand-off communicationFollow up with hospital staff regarding delay times, request updates, and entry errorsSafely transport patients via beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, and IV poles by adhering to Transport protocols, patient safety guidelines, infection control, and general hospital safety standardsDemonstrate safe patient handling using proper body mechanics in lifting, transferring, and positioning patientsVerify two hospital-approved identifiers for patient identification on each transportClean and disinfect transport equipment on all patient and transporter contact surfaces before and after each patient useDemonstrate proper hand hygiene before and after patient contactFollow proper oxygen handlingMaintain patient's strict confidentiality (HIPAA) of all information and all matters concerning patients, physicians, and hospital personnelPerform any and all other duties as assigned.QualificationsJob Requirements :High School Graduate or GED.At least 1 year of experience in a hospital environment or within customer service.Strong knowledge of phone and computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, and I-pod handheld devices.Preferred Job Requirements:Diploma from a vocational or technical program.Previous transporter or call center experience.Experience with EPIC software a plus.Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
