Summary of Job Duties
The Transit Dispatcher receives radio and/or telephone calls concerning building maintenance, transit operations, emergency situations, or inquiries from the general public. This position interviews callers to obtain information, and offers assistance on directions, procedures, and schedules; relays information to appropriate departmental personnel, such as building maintenance staff, parking control officers, transit bus drivers, and paratransit van drivers; records or enters information into logs and/or computer databases; compiles information from logs or databases into reports; receives deliveries from vendors and delivery services; and monitors visitor and employee entrance and exit of the property. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma;
- Two years of experience in operating communication equipment or related area
- Equivalencies will be accepted for experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of communication procedures and federal rules and regulations concerning radio and telephone transmissions.
- Ability to operate communications equipment.
- Ability to maintain logs and records. Ability to communicate in oral and written form
Salary Information
$11.00 to $19.00
