City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world-class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Supported by a regional network of care, our 11-acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County's only cancer specialty hospital.
With the opening of the hospital, the full continuum of advanced cancer care-from prevention through survivorship-is in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment. Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital features 73 inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. This isn't standard cancer care. This is lifesaving cancer care. This is Hope.
Evening shift typically works 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Weekend availability is required.
The Security Officer provides security for patients, employees, and visitors; protects buildings, assets, and premises as assigned. Works under the supervision of the Security Supervisor on shift but during the assignment works independently, exercising initiative on matters not prescribed within established policies and procedures.
Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public and staff in answering their inquiries. Should have sufficient strength and agility to deter and apprehend intruders. Should be alert and have good judgement in detecting and reporting unusual situations which indicate a danger to life and property.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Secure premises:
- Patrol City of Hope buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders via, assigned vehicle, foot and/or bike patrol.
- Secure and/or unlock offices and facilities.
- Secure lost and found articles; maintain logs of items received
- Secure and escort medical staff with patients that have deceased providing protection for the body
- Control parking and traffic flow; enforce parking regulations.
- Assist with moving or transporting barriers
- Respond to emergency (fire, oppression, etc.) conditions to contain and control for the protection of life and property.
- Participate in business continuity management recovery team and attend annual exercise(s).
- Monitoring of visitors on City of Hope premises; confronts unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
- Notify, escalate and document unusual or suspicious incidents to Security Leadership. Report safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
- Escort personnel to parking lots and City of Hope buildings.
- Participate in investigations; maintain records and prepare incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.
- High School or equivalent
- 2 years of security experience required.
- Hospital security experience preferred.
- Required Courses/Training:
- AB5O8/management of aggressive behavior within 3 months of hire
- Current CA Driver's license
- Guard Registration card
- Pepper spray permit
- American Heart Association CPR within 3 months of hire
