The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a General Dentist for the Tomah VA Medical Center in Tomah, WI. The General Dentist performs a full range of professional dental procedures for commonly encountered dental diseases and oral health problems, including standard corrective, restorative, and preventive care for medically compromised outpatients, inpatients, and nursing home patients.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a full range of professional dental procedures for commonly encountered dental diseases and oral health problems.
- Provide restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, periodontal, oral surgery, corrective, and preventive dental care.
- Provide care to medically compromised outpatients, inpatients, and nursing home patients.
- Triage, diagnose, and manage a broad spectrum of urgent and chronic dental problems.
- Perform follow-up clinic visits for existing dental problems.
- Document assessments and plans of care according to policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Function as a full member of the interdisciplinary team serving patients at Tomah VA Medical Center.
- Act as a patient advocate and support Veteran and family participation in care decisions.
- Maintain knowledge of new and current clinical dental methods.
- Maintain Basic Life Support certification from an American Heart Association-approved course.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited in accordance with VA policy.
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- Must have a Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from an approved school of dentistry.
- Must have completed, or be currently completing, a residency program in general practice or specialty, or have comparable experience as a dentist actively involved in treating medically compromised patients.
- Must currently hold, or will hold, a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- Must maintain current registration in the state of licensure if required for active licensure.
- Must be subject to a background/security investigation.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
- Must pass pre-employment drug testing and remain subject to testing requirements for this testing designated position.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born after December 31, 1959.

- Currently practicing dentist.
- VA experience.
- Advanced Education in General Dentistry or General Practice Residency experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Must pass a physical examination before placement.
- Requires walking, bending, stooping, light lifting and carrying under 15 pounds, reaching above the shoulder, and use of fingers and both hands.
- Requires use of both legs, both eyes, depth perception, ability to distinguish colors and shades of colors, and hearing; hearing aid is permitted.
- Requires walking and standing up to approximately two hours each.
- Requires rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.
- May involve working alone, working closely with others, and protracted or irregular hours of work.
