Correctional Officer 1 (CO2) – Bellingham Reentry CenterFull‑time position availableBellingham Reentry Center (BRC), Bellingham, WAOverviewSeeking highly motivated individuals to serve as Correctional Officers for a minimum‑security, co‑ed facility. The role involves maintaining safety and security, directing and monitoring movements, and working collaboratively with residents to promote successful re‑entry.CompensationFull‑time: $5,523 – $5,948 per month (DOC WFSE Range 45 Step J‑M)On‑call/Hourly: $31.74 – $34.18 per hourOn‑call staff may work an average of 32‑40 hours per week with a 6‑week full‑time paid training period upon hire. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid sick leave, holiday pay, and paid vacation for those working at least 20 hours per week.ResponsibilitiesMaintain safety and security within the facility.Control and monitor movement of incarcerated individuals in and out of the institution according to established procedures.Serve as a positive role model and assist residents in becoming productive members of society.Use interpersonal and communication skills to counteract criminal thinking and maintain a safe confinement environment.Perform occasional overtime as required.Complete all mandatory training, including the Correctional Worker Core (CWC) six‑week academy and ongoing on‑the‑job training.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED.Valid driver's license.Legal (constitutional) right to carry a firearm.One year of experience as a DOC Corrections and Custody Officer with successful completion of the CORE academy and Correctional Officer Field Training Program, **or**One year of experience as a Correctional Officer in adult or juvenile corrections performing security functions equivalent to a DOC Corrections and Security Officer 2.Completion of a 6‑week academy and on‑the‑job training.Work EnvironmentEmployees may work directly with or near incarcerated individuals in a potentially hazardous setting.
