*What You'll Do*
As a Correctional Officer, you'll play an essential role in maintaining safety, security, and order while interacting professionally with incarcerated individuals and fellow staff.
*Responsibilities include:*
* Supervise incarcerated individuals in housing units, dining areas, work assignments, classrooms, and recreation
* Maintain safety and enforce facility rules and policies
* Conduct security checks, resident counts, pat-downs, and searches for contraband
* Escort incarcerated individuals throughout the facility and to outside appointments when necessary
* Monitor behavior and prepare reports on incidents and security concerns
* Respond to emergencies using approved safety procedures and Handle With Care techniques
* Patrol the facility and perimeter to maintain a secure environment
* Maintain accountability for keys, radios, restraints, and other security equipment
* Provide first aid or CPR when necessary
* Encourage positive behavior and professionalism through daily interactions
*Minimum Qualifications*
* Must be at least *18 years of age*
* High school diploma or GED
* Successfully complete the written examination and physical fitness test
* Pass a background investigation, medical examination, and drug screening
* No felony convictions
* No DUI convictions within the past 24 months
* No drug use or possession convictions within the past 60 months
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Correctional Officer Certification (earned through KDOC Basic Training)
* CPR/First Aid certification
* Previous experience in corrections, law enforcement, security, or military service
