GEOINT Technical Field Support Specialist

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. Collins Aerospace is currently in search of a GEOINT Technical Field Support Specialist. The position is based at Fort Meade, MD. The person selected will provide software maintenance support and Linux Systems administration for systems at DMS-MD at Fort Meade, MD. This position will interface daily with users, co-contractors, and customer organizations to troubleshoot and correct problems, analyze performance, and make recommendations on improvements.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to a Linux infrastructure for classified programs. Duties include, but are not limited to, server management (software and hardware); storage management (logical and physical); cross platform authentication and access management; data backup and restoration; software and license configuration; and workstation support
  • Implement and maintain an enterprise Linux environment including system administration, networking, performance monitoring/tuning, security hardening, and troubleshooting
  • Administer, patch, and harden Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and related distributions
  • Configure and maintain STIG-compliant systems in accordance with DoD security standards
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across physical and virtualized environments (RHEL KVM)
  • Automate system tasks using Ansible and Bash shell scripting
  • Install and configure software applications requested by end users
  • Working directly in a customer service environment, ensuring seamless communication and service delivery
  • Manage and maintain servers, operating systems, network connectivity, and networking hardware such as routers and switches
  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications using Python and Java for complex systems and applications
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing code for performance and efficiency in complex environments
  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.
  • Full time 100% Onsite position

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Active and transferable U.S government issued TS/SCI with CI Polygraph U.S. security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • Current DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II or IAM Level I certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, CAP, etc.)
  • Previous experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administration.
  • 3 years of Linux Systems Administration experience
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
