Job Summary Law Clerk I – Full Time, Mid‑Level – Supports litigation tasks for a large federal agency within CGS's Legal Operations.Responsibilities Work under the direction of a Project Supervisor or Project Manager.Perform complex legal research for the trial staff.Assist in preparing draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.Review and conduct research for Release of Information cases.Review new cases and research pertinent laws.Edit previously submitted final decisions and write/research legal opinions on new cases.Edit and review cases for issuance.Respond to citizen letters.Review AMICUS briefs.Brief attorneys regarding legal issues, theories, and draft statement of facts.Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation.Conduct cite checking via online legal research tools (Westlaw and Lexis) and Bluebook.Qualifications Requires Juris Doctor (JD) degree, or currently attending an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study; equivalent legal training or experience may be substituted.Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.Extensive experience with cite checking and Bluebook.Experience performing complex legal research.Hands‑on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (e.g., document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure.Preferred: experience in a government and/or litigation support environment.Preferred: experience with Relativity.Preferred: publication of legal writings.Preferred: participation in Law Review.Current or active security clearance.Benefits Health, Dental, and VisionLife Insurance401(k)Flexible Spending Account (Health, Dependent Care, and Commuter)Paid Time Off and observance of State/Federal HolidaysCompensation $70,000 - $80,000 per year.Equal Opportunity Employer Contact Government Services, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
