Security Gate Officer
Isleworth, a premier private community in Windermere, Florida, is seeking full-time security gate officers to staff its primary access points. This position is gate-focused and requires officers to professionally manage resident, guest, vendor, and service access in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Gate officers serve as the first point of contact for the community and must demonstrate strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask while standing in a confined gatehouse location for the duration of their shift.
Starting pay: $19.00/hour Schedule: 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week Meals provided: Lunch or dinner Benefits: Eligible the first of the month following 30 days of employment (medical, dental, vision, supplemental insurance, 401(k) with match, paid vacation and sick time)
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Control and manage vehicular access into and out of the Isleworth community
- Verify authorization for all residents, guest, vendors, contractors, and service providers requesting entry.
- Accurately log visitors entries using approved access control software and/or written logs
- Operate gate equipment, access systems, radios, and telephones in a professional manner
- Maintain awareness of traffic flow and safely manage vehicles at the gate
- Handle multiple access requests simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
- Safeguard items temporarily placed in gate custody (e.g., packages, keys, passes)
- Respond to routine service calls related to gate operations
- Report unusual activity, access discrepancies, or incidents to supervisory personnel
- Maintain a professional demeanor during frequent interaction with residents, guests, and vendors
This is not a patrol-based position. The primary responsibility is gate access control.
Minimum qualifications:
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Valid Florida Class D security license, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Ability to pass an extensive background check, including criminal history, employment verification, references, and DMV record
- Ability to successfully complete all required training
- Professional communication skills and the ability to operate radio and telephone equipment
- If prior military service: ability to provide DD-214 with discharge status upon job
Physical and work environment requirements:
- Must be capable of standing for up to 8 hours per shift in a confined gatehouse location
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment requiring constant attention and multitasking
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds as required
- Ability to work outdoors and indoors in varying weather conditions
