Officer - Security Expo And Logistics
The primary responsibility of the Officer - Security Expo and Logistics is to provide for the safety and protection of guests, Team Members, and Company property. The Security Officer is also responsible for anticipating potential problems and seeking ways to prevent disruption, injuries, and prohibited conduct from occurring on Company premises. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort's policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety-related position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Patrols, monitors, and periodically inspects assigned areas.
- Remains on the lookout for undesirable or suspicious persons or activity.
- At the discretion of management, trespasses undesirables and troublemakers.
- Controls access to the Loading Dock and Tour Bus Lobby and Venetian Service Road (also known by and referred to as the north/south road)
- Ensures those entering the Dock area and Heart of House areas have the appropriate credentials and are authorized to be in the area.
- Performs duties related to the Security Service Windows, badging, and issuing credentials.
- Maintains and operates an asset control system for the accounting of company property.
- Investigates all incidents, accidents, and/or events to include taking initial report and conducting interviews with appropriate follow-up actions.
- Maintains a visible and accessible profile among guests and team members to create a sense of security, to deter potential problems, and to answer questions.
- Responds to emergency situations and takes appropriate steps to rectify problems and minimize Company liability.
- Executes emergency response and evacuation procedures as directed by management.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitors and assists in the enforcement of property policies and procedures, regulations, federal, state and local laws.
- Displays high level of guest service to hotel and casino guests and fellow Team Members.
- Protects or safeguards individuals, property, grounds and/or designated areas.
- Patrols, works crowd duty, works parade duty, conducts surveillance, conducts investigations of crimes or potential crimes.
- Coordinates with protection teams for dignitaries, celebrities, and persons of interest.
- Deflates potential threats, evaluates crisis or life-threatening situations, and implements or takes action based upon information or situation analysis.
- Exercises discretion and good judgment to de-escalate and resolve potential conflict.
- Coordinates with Groups and Conventions customers to integrate the Security Department and private/contract security teams working for tradeshows, expo shows, or other similar events.
- Directs others for their own protection and self-preservation.
- Safety is an essential function of this job.
- Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Company Standards of Conduct
All The Venetian Resort Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company's standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years of age.
- Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to obtain/possess a valid Nevada Driver's License, Nevada Gaming Control Board Registration, Alcohol Awareness Card, and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
- Prior experience in civilian or military law enforcement, casino/hotel security, industrial security, or related field preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate incidents, interview witnesses and draft legible, factual reports.
- Knowledge of general first aid is preferred.
- Familiarity with federal, state and local laws pertaining to law enforcement and gaming.
- Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.
- Possess skills to serve the public trust and establish peace.
- Must be able to address stressful situations with others with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to
- Lift or carry 46 lbs., push/pull 100 ft/lbs. unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned at a distance of approximately 1713 ft.
- Administer CPR.
- Physically access to all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation, including the ability to climb stairs.
- Frequent bending from the waist (5 times per minute), squatting, kneeling, reaching overhead, lying down, crawling, knee standing, pushing and pulling for approximately 33% of the workday.
- Climb in and out of a company vehicle.
- Stand and/or walk for up to 2 hours at one time and for approximately 4 to 6 hours in a workday.
- Sit up to 4 hours at one time and for approximately 4 hours in a workday.
- Drive a truck for up to 60 minutes at one time and for approximately 3 hours in a work day.
- Maintain composure under pressure while maintaining a high level of guest service.
- Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
- Must be able to perform eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
- Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
- Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.
