Correction Officer TraineesCorrection Officer Trainees are required to participate in and satisfactorily complete the requirements of a 12‑month training program before advancing to Correction Officer. As part of the program, you will attend the Correctional Services Training Academy for a minimum 8‑week formal training program.Correction Officers are responsible for the custody and security, as well as for the safety and well‑being of incarcerated individuals in state correctional facilities, shock incarceration correctional facilities, work release centers and a drug treatment campus.Salary and BenefitsSalary (Effective May 29, 2025)Correction Officer Trainee (NS – Equated to Grade14) and Correction Officer (Grade15) receive $66,365 starting salary during Academy training and first year. After one year the salary ranges from $69,762 to $84,024 after seven years*. Appointees may be eligible for advanced placement upon appointment to full performance level Grade15 with a starting salary up to $84,024.The salary range includes a $5,000 annual geographic pay for all locations throughout NewYorkState.Additional Monetary Compensations ProvidedInconvenience PayLocation PayPre‑Shift BriefingExpanded Duty PayHazardous Duty PayBenefits104 hours of vacation annually, up to a maximum of 156 hours, depending on length of service.104 hours annually paid holiday time.40 paid personal leave hours annually.Paid sick leave accumulating at the rate of 104 hours per year.Excellent health, dental, and optical insurance coverage.All uniforms and equipment are provided.Excellent retirement benefits.#J-18808-Ljbffr
