Meritus Solutions Group is seeking a professional Armed Protective Security Officer (PSO) to support federal facilities and personnel in Presque Isle, Maine.
This position is ideal for retired military personnel, law enforcement professionals, or experienced security officers seeking part-time employment with a predictable weekday schedule.
Protective Security Officers are responsible for protecting federal facilities, personnel, visitors, and government property through access control, security monitoring, patrol operations, emergency response, and force protection activities.
This is a part-time position.
Typical schedule includes:
- Monday through Friday
- 8:45 AM 12:45 PM and/or
- 12:15 PM 4:15 PM
Schedules may vary based on contract requirements, site needs, and shift assignments.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide armed security services at designated federal facilities
- Control access to federal buildings and restricted areas
- Monitor security systems and conduct security inspections
- Protect personnel, visitors, equipment, and government property
- Conduct patrols and perimeter security checks
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and security incidents
- Prepare accurate incident reports and daily activity logs
- Maintain compliance with federal, contract, and company requirements
- Communicate professionally with government personnel, visitors, and the public
- Perform additional security-related duties as assigned
Applicants must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Have a minimum of:
- Two (2) years of security experience, OR
- Prior military experience, OR
- Prior law enforcement experience
- Successfully pass:
- Federal background investigation
- Medical evaluation
- Drug screening
- Be able to obtain and maintain required government clearances
- Be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
- Be capable of preparing clear and accurate written reports
Selected candidates will attend required new-hire training in Massachusetts.
Training includes:
- Approximately 12 days of paid training
- Company-paid hotel accommodations
- Security certification training
- Contract-specific operational training
All required training must be successfully completed prior to assignment.
Applicants must possess:
- Valid Driver's License
The following certifications will be provided by the company at no cost:
- CPR / First Aid / AED Certification
- OC Spray Certification
- Baton Certification
The company will also assist candidates with:
- Government Security Clearance processing
- Maine State Background Check requirements
Compensation Type - Amount
Current Base Pay - $30.13/hour
Current Health & Welfare Benefit - $5.10/hour
Current Total Compensation - $35.23/hour
Effective October 2026
Base Pay - $31.64/hour
Health & Welfare Benefit - $5.20/hour
Total Compensation - $36.84/hour
