ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate driver activities and shuttle assignments to resolve service issues and minimize overtime, downtime, and hours of service violations. Complete attendance trackers and verify that drivers are using Omnitracs properly.
- Ensure that customer's needs are being met in a prompt and professional manner and escalate issues (late dispatch, breakdown, other service failures) to managers and sales force. Reassign routes as needed to solve service issues , and ensure that drivers are logging in and utilizing Proof of Delivery scanner.
- Coordinate trailer, tractor, and backhaul assignments to support efficient logistics operations.
- Visually inspect each driver's appearance to verify that drivers are in proper uniform and have required PPE.
- Notify the manager / supervisor in charge and the safety specialist in the event of a vehicle accident or driver injury.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work will take place both at a desk in an office environment and in normal warehouse environments including cooler and freezer areas where temperatures may be as low as -5 degrees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Related Experience/Requirements:
- Minimum one year of transportation or logistics experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Effective communication both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent telephone and customer service ability.
- Math, analytical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills with a good knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Problem solving and critical thinking abilities to solve problems of limited scope.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to support others in the department and division.
Education
- High school diploma or GED/equivalent required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior dispatcher experience preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT Hours of Service Regulations and driver logs.
- Knowledge of our geographic delivery area.
