Detention Officer

Starting wage increased to $25.40 per hour

As a Detention Officer for the Lake County Sheriff's Office, you will:

Supervise, secure, control, and care for inmates in the Detention Facility; comply with all established policies, rules, memos, and procedures; maintain discipline and order among inmates; and prevent disturbances and escapes.

Provide impartial evaluation of inmates; cope with hostile and aggressive behaviors; maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations; and seek cooperation from individuals with varied backgrounds.

To become P.O.S.T certified in the State of Montana, all applicants must be at least 18 years of age, must possess a high school diploma or GED Certificate and must possess the ability to attend the Montana Law Enforcement Academy and successfully pass the Detention Basic Course within one year of hire. Must pass C-PAT test, Mental Health test, and a Physical done by a Physician. Must pass a background check with a clear criminal history, have a valid Montana Driver License and successfully complete a 12 week F.T.O program.

Must possess the ability to understand and follow laws, policies, procedures, and orders; the ability to maintain effective working relationships; and to utilize skills in control techniques to physically subdue an inmate.

Wage: $25.40/hour - This is a union covered position
