Serve as incident commander in directing activities at emergency incidents until relieved by a higher‑ranking officer (volunteer or county employee).Essential Job FunctionsDevelops, coordinates, and assists with Fire & Life Safety public education programsResponds to emergency incidents as required and/or when necessaryResponsible to maintain files, records, and submit reportsWorks closely with internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative manner while supporting their activities in the best interests of Rockingham CountyResponsible to follow and enforce County department rules, regulations and safety procedures related to work performanceMaintain physical conditioning through a weight and cardiac training programMaintain knowledge of current federal, state, and local regulations regarding privacy practices and release of informationPass a NFPA 1582 physical administered by a physician prior to employment and annuallyPerforms other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Department Chief OfficerKnowledgeBasic knowledge of the computer and internetHIPAA laws and regulationsPrinciples and processes for providing customer and personal servicesSkillsUse logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problemsGive full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate timesAbilitiesApply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make senseCombine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusionsRegular work attendance is requiredTo ApplyAll applicants must apply online.
